Advanced CT Based Image Tracking for Next Generation Research

Up Coming

Many of our clinical trial studies use a current generation dual x-ray system called radiostereometric analysis (RSA) to look for early implant movement. This movement is used to predict implant loosening, which can lead to follow-up surgery. Now, we are shifting our focus to an advanced computed tomography (CT) based 3D imaging tracking system here at Concordia as the hub for this next generation of research.

We are collaborating with medical imaging specialists at the University of Manitoba and CancerCare Manitoba to start implementing this next generation research at Concordia. We are also recruiting an Engineering Master student to work on this topic as part of their master’s thesis work and we are in touch with the pioneers of this technology at Leiden University Medical Centre (Leiden, The Netherlands) to ensure a successful launch at Concordia.
